Not Running the Distance - Fishing Inshore for Tuna and Sharks | Block Island Trophy Striped Bass

Big Game Sport Fishing in Snug Harbor Rhode Island was started in 2007 by USCG licensed Captain Brian Bacon, Captain Peter Bacon and Shamus Mara.

Brian, Peter and Shamus have been fishing the Southern Rhode Island waters for the better part of their lives and have a combined experience of over 70 years fishing these waters! Although Big Game is still a newer company, the business has grown to where the boat is running over 120 fishing charters a season and most of it is due to happy repeat customers and their referrals.

The Big Game crew has a true passion for the thrill of the hunt, love for the ocean and putting fish in the box! Fishing from inshore, to the canyons, the Big Game team uses a number of proven tactics in targeting the variety of species Rhode Island waters have to offer and prides themselves on teaching children and the most novice anglers the proper techniques to not only hooking, but landing the fish.

Over the years, Big Game has either won or placed in many inshore and offshore fishing tournaments and has a proven track record for putting big fish on the boat. Big Game is currently on The Daiwa Tackle Pro Staff as well as The Gibbs Lures Pro Staff. The Big Game team actively participates in the NMFS Shark tagging program, the Billfish tagging program and the Bluefin Tuna Tagging Program.

The Big Game team also started and runs the wildly popular “Fluke Til Ya Puke” Fishing Tournament, the biggest Fluke tournament in the country with over 1000 anglers entered in this one day event!

Participants in the tournament are treated to a free tournament t-shirt, all you can eat and drink at the BBQ, a live band, raffle prizes and over $30,000 in cash and prizes paid out to the winners!

Brian, Peter and Shamus are all professional captains and crew, all a pleasure to fish with, who love catching not fishing, and understand that they are not only a charter business but also in the entertainment business. They always have fun being on the water and putting people on fish! They want to provide their customers with a memorable experience and the fishing trip of a lifetime.
